UPDATE: Remains found in Tennessee?

Authorities in Tennessee have confirmed that a cadaver dog was used today as a part of a search for a missing person, but will not confirm or deny the discovery of remains.

MissingPersonsNews has also received confirmation from two independent sources that a national missing persons’ organization is on the ground near the area of Parsons, TN, participating in the search. One person close to that organization told MPN that the group does not want the media involved; however, without a gag order, no media outlet may be stopped from reporting information vital to the public.

Speculation over the last few hours has led several people to name the identity of a potential victim, but MPN’s policy is not to disclose identities without Law Enforcement confirmation.

Was the original article saying remains had been found not accurate? Also when can we expect updates — is this story still being worked on? Thank you.

We received several initial reports from people on the ground in that area informing us remains had been found. Therefore, we stand behind the original article. Upon discussing it with authorities, they could neither confirm NOR deny that report. Out of respect for the investigators who asked us for patience in the matter, we chose to alter the headline and provide an update. We are still working on this to obtain updates, and other reporters in the Parsons area have contacted us to state they, too, are receiving very little information. We are working on an update, and appreciate the readers’ patience, as there are many twists and turns to this case.
